We are currently seeking (2) experienced, motivated, committed individuals for a sleep technician positions.  Minimum requirements include six months sleep laboratory experience with trouble shooting skills, computer, typing, and interpersonal skills.  Registered technologist, non-registered technicians, and graduates of accredited sleep programs are encouraged to apply.

 
We are also looking to fill (2) additional sleep technician positions for someone willing to complete or are currently enrolled in an AASM-accredited A-STEP program. 

• A-STEP provides students with the comprehensive education and practical training needed to work in the field.  This program is an 80-hour educational session in which you will learn the basics of sleep technology and basic interaction with patients.

• The A-STEP program is offered periodically throughout the year at a cost of approximately $2500.00.  This fee includes books, educational material, and lecture time provided by experienced sleep technologists and doctors who specialize in sleep disorders.  This is an out-of-pocket expense for you and you should consider it an investment in your education.  (Maimonides DOES NOT reimburse this expense)

At Maimonides Sleep Arts & Sciences, we pride ourselves in providing advanced training of our technicians. We require 90 days of training for all new staff in which you will learn advanced techniques used to help educate our patients and families regarding sleep testing and sleep disorders treatment.  Most of our technicians work two consecutive nights (12 hour shift) along with two days (8 hour shift) per week.  However, flexible day and night shifts are available

RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES:

• Dr. Krakow is the lead investigator of a non-profit company, The Sleep and Human Health Institute.  We are looking for an experienced tech with a special interest in research opportunities.  Candidate should have experience in database management, manuscript preparation, use of Reference Manager, or similar software previous experience in control led trials or other research designs and an interest in co-authorship on papers.  We currently have research projects looking at the relationship between insomnia and SDB as well as PAP adherence in insomnia patients.
