"Certainly welcome news for veterans in Albuquerque, but in all the services listed, there was not a single mention of sleep treatments."

An employee of a residential veterans center on East Central in Albuquerque says that hes seeing more cases of PTSD, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Especially with the war going on, we see a lot of younger veterans coming in, said Garfield Lopez, who works at the New Mexico Veterans Integration Center. But there is help out there. Youve got to reach out and look for it.

Garfield says the Veterans Integration Center, houses in the Value Place Motel near Tramway and Central, offers returning veterans a warm and safe place to stay along with treatment services.

We have all kinds of services: case management, counseling, drug and alcohol (treatment). AA, said Lopez. Were tied in with the VA, so we offer PTSD, or mental issues.

The program still has 25 rooms available. To enroll, a returning veteran needs to contact the national veterans affairs office, which also provides a suicide prevention hotline: 800-273-8255.
